Skol Bandeleros

Anthony Conway writes:

"The Skol Bandeleros formed in the early 1980's and performed their unique fushion of country and alternative rock in various venues around Manchester including the International, Gallery, Free Trade Hall, Boardwalk, Band on the Wall , Manchester University and the Red Admiral.

Band members -

Cow Pat - Lead Vocals
Suzy Two Shoes - Rythm Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals
Hank Butch - Lead Guitar
Tex Rattlesnake - Drums
Curly Bodine - Bass (Albiet usually very quiet)

A typical set would see the band perform some of their classics including

Stockport Roads
BMX Bandits
Country Girl
Rope to Hang Him
Working my way back to Jesus
The Grand Ole US of A
My Eyeballs Blind

Often food would be cooked live on stage (Hotdogs and Blueberry pie) indeed a small fire was started at The International after some particularily frantic line dance moves from Cowpat resulted in knocking over the primus stove. Luckily the doggies were saved!!

The band finally split n the late 80's to pursue solo projects none of which seemed to capture the fire and originality of their earlier collective works." (Submitted 21.08.07)
