HELP
Queer Noise is an online exhibition that aims to explore the story of Greater
Manchester’s gay music and club culture. It contains flyers, posters, mp3s, photos
and footage. There are oral histories on subjects including 1970s lesbian discos,
racial diversity on the current gay scene and political activism through live music.
The artefacts are in chronological order, beginning in the 60s and taking in the house
music boom of the early 90s; the later alt.queer nights such as Homo Electric; and
LGBT music-making through the eras. There is also an introduction and exclusive
essay by Jon Savage.
But there are still lots of gaps we’d like YOU to fill. We see this an ongoing project that will grow much in the way our main MDMArchive website has over the years.
If you have any artefacts you’d like to contribute to Queer Noise, just upload them to our main site in the usual way and we’ll add them to the exhibition for you:
