The Backscratchers, the acclaimed blues-jazz outfit from Manchester, saw a number of personnel changes over the years. Formed in early 1991 to fulfil a tour of Europe, the band played numerous tours of Europe, Ireland and Britain and consisted of the following musicians:

Clive Mellor - harmonica
Paul Howley - drums
Paul O'Sullivan - fretless bass
Mog - bass guitar
Rollo Markee - vocals, harmonica
Errol - drums
Rockin' Ray - bass

Phil Wilks - drums
