backstage pass for The Olympic Bid event in Castlefield Arena.
Great antisipation was followed by disapointment as the bid went to Sydney,Quantas "s windows were put through on Deansgate
and 808 State went on stage with crying Coronation Street Stars in the wings.
808 were comisioned to do the bids theme music simply called Olympic ,it came out as a single but the B side Cubik kind of eclipsed it ,then The Word tv programme adopted Olympic as their Theme tune,with a new mix by the band..Thats Darren Partington saying "The Word" on the TV Version and not Arnold Swartzanegger as his lawyers seemed to have thought at the time.
