The Drummer Samuel Briant whilst performing with F.T.V. in London @ the Rock Garden in Covent Garden was spotted by Tricky & Mark Saunders (The Cures producer) whilst visiting the venue to check out the Drummer in Topley Birds brothers band. When Mark Saunders & Tricky watch Samuel Briant perform live to a click track. They instantly knew he was the man for the job and liked his style of Drumming as well. So approached the band to offer the Drummer some session work on Tricky's debut album (Maxinequaye) recorded in 1994 and released in 1995. Samuel Briant accepted the session work. He later visited Eastcote Studio's where he enjoyed the session. Mark Saunders being a Drummer himself knew how to get the best out of Sam. He sympathized with Sam having the restriction and lack of freedom live because of having to work with a click track. So even though Mark Saunders Knew that Samuel Briant had to do the session to a click he still wanted to encourage a sense of more freedom and energy.
