Gabrielle’s Wish, The Fall
Boddington's Brewery
12th November 2006

From my blog -
Fantastic night on Sunday watching the Fall at the old Boddington's Brewery. Support came from veteran locals Gabrielle's Wish who played an intense and powerful set, the best I personally have ever seen them deliver. The sound was excellent given the converted industrial surroundings (which is more than I can say for the portaloos). The space is cavernous, but a perfectly adequate number of people turned up, the place was full but you could still push to the front, as you will be able to see from my photos when I eventually get them onto Webshots. Apparently a lot of the old school Manchester glitterati were in attendance (Anthony H, Mark Riley et al) although I didn't see anyone of that ilk from my position glued to the security barrier. The Fall, what can I say? Two drummers, two leather jackets, one driving force of overwhelming energy. The set included old and soon to be classics - Sparta FC, Fall Sound, I Can Hear the Grass Grow. The crowd was lively and for once me and my girlfriends were not the only ones really giving it some on the dancing. How long have I been insisting that this is a dance band? The gig was being filmed, if it comes out on DVD give it a look because the people I was with are hardened veterans at this Fall going game and they rated it, as did I.
