Artefact

Photograph
Beat Science, Iron Lung
1975

Photographs were as much a part of Iron Lung as the tunes, Landmark and myself doing the black and white ones ourselves. Here's another rare excursion into colour to try out a new toy of Landmarks, a 20 foot long 'bulb' device that enabled you to take the photo from within the photo without using a self timer on the camera. I'm holding an electric fish that Landmark's dad brought back from a scientific business trip to the USA, it had a long lead coming out of it's mouth and a plug at the other end! You pugged it into the mains, dropped it into some water and it's tailfin oscillated from side to side, enabling it to 'swim'!
I am not joking.
The fish 'motif' surfaces (sorry) to this day in Beat Science, particularly Pen's use of a robot fish to operate his 'arm keyboard' (Come and see)

“This is true ..We were recently handed 3 more "Mechanical Denizens of the Deep" to do with as we pleased by a member of the audience who was on our wavelength. Pen is allegedly wiring them up for a future event. One was a Lobster but I can't remember what the others were.”
