Trefor Davies remembers the operas performed at the Northern School of Music and special guest Ursula Vaughan Williams.

Trefor: Magic Flute, Alceste and we did Pilgrim’s Progress, well that was a concert version, and Hugh the Drover. I played Hugh in Hugh the Drover and it was the first performance for 30 years because previously it had been done in the 1930s, so it was the first performance for over 30 years and we had Ursula Vaughan Williams attended the first night.
Heather: Wow!
T: So we were. We thought we were…
H: …very proud. So was she specifically invited?
T: Yes, she was specifically invited.

Part of the #NSM2020 project "A 20/20 Legacy: the centenary of the Northern School of Music" supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
