Fae Jones praises an inspirational music teacher from her high school for introducing her to the wonders of music making.
Fae: Well I came to music because I met an inspirational music teacher who came to my school, who I do believe was a graduate of the Northern School of Music. She was called Ms Jean Broadbent and she was a breath of fresh air who came into my school. I must explain that I went to Manchester Central High School for Girls on Whitworth Street in Manchester which was a grammar school and up until about the third or fourth year the music teacher had not been inspirational for me but this wonderful person came and just lifted it up to a different level. She created choirs... and those choirs were put into competitions like Blackpool Music Festival, which was prolific at the time, and Llangollen of course, and I just thought this was the most wonderful life changing experience. The music that must have been lying within me somewhere, you know, came out and I was just so thrilled with the thought of doing music. It really touched a spot.
