City Fun 16.Review of Abdominal Pains gig at Hyde town Hall;Foreign Press line-up change..still got a single of theirs somewhere...;Mick Middles slagging off Martin Hannett's "insipid" production techniques;The Immediates supporting Dislocation Dance at The Cypress tavern;used to love that venue;50p in, 20p if you were a student;two old biddies on the door;..could get a bit rough though.I think The Immediates had Andy Connell ( later A.C.R. and Swing Out Sister),on keyboards,and the singer Jane, who released something with that Edward Barton fella,and later was on Brookside as Rod the Plod's girlfriend;maybe i made that bit up.Actually the music programme she sang on as Jane also,I believe,had The Smiths on,can't remember what it was called though.I think I saw The Spurtz at The Cypress downstairs room, or Stockholm Monsters.Jeez can't believe all this stuff's still in my head...
