Used to love Frankie....again I’m sure I’ve got a tape of this stashed away. This was a top gig.He was tipped to be the new Dennis Brown;no need;he was the first Frankie P.One particular memory of the night is when Frankie asked the audience along the lines of “will some lovely lady come and join me on stage” kind of a thing.Anyway some obliging lass jumped up and stood by him and poor Frankie ,who was virtually blind as a bat with his big jam-jar specks on,repeated the question a couple of times to the crowd’s response of almost “she’s behind you” a la pantomime style.hilarious! The young girl had to tap him on the the shoulder and we were all good again.I think it was this time he did an impromptu midweek gig at The Tropicana (?),probably with Baron Hi Fi.It was good to see a personal favourite twice in one week.I like the “non stop entertainment “ bit at the bottom of the flyer.I wonder what he’s doing now........
