The Rhythmaires
1985

LP 'Losin Out by the Rhythmaires about 1985 I think on Nervous records. the line-up was Stuart Warburton, vocals etc., James Fildes, guitars, Dave Machin, drums, and Ray Walmsley, double bass. Most of the songs on this LP were writen by SW and other band members
James was the cousin of an old mate which is how I came across the band - Morrisey recruited him to appear in a post Smiths video around this time.
'Big Dave' was in a number of rockabilly bands of course but, less well known, I recall seeing him at the Ranch and many punk gigs in and around '77.

“Thanks for posting this. Yes it was on Nervous records but came out in 1987. I'm reliably informed that the album got to No 17 in the Finnish charts (though charts are obviously 'pro rata' to the population so that probably means that three people and a reindeer bought it!)
Did the Morrissey video come off? I must ask Jamie (as I've certainly never seen it) though I know he was in Robbie Coltrane's video for the single "New Orleans."
Incidentally, the sleeve was designed by our friend David Calderley (who has quite a portfolio and now lives in NYC) and the photo was taken at The Hacienda by no less a personage than Kevin Cummins himself.”

“dont think anyone would've won a "guess where this photo was taken" competition on this one!”

“Thanks for clearing up the date Shaker. All the other info you give is on the sleeve but unusually there is no date I can find anywhere on the sleeve or label! I remember Jamie telling me he had passed the audition and recorded a video for Morrisey - but I never did know for what tune.
No doubt you'll all be looking forward to a reunion tour of Finland!”
