As was mentioned in a recent upload about “The Lone Groover” look-a-like in Lloyd Cole’s band , other music comic strip heros/ zeros included Salford born Ray Lowry’s “Only Rock ‘n Roll” strip, also featured for many a year in the N.M.E. and suchlike. Others, such as Fat Freddy’s Cat, Mad comic, Furry Freak Brothers, the eccentric Robert Crumb’s Fritz the Cat and probably many more were de rigeur in the music papers lexicon. Tangentally there were the likes of Ralph Steadman, (another Northern light), Oz, Private Eye etc .and eventually up to the much more popular Viz.; but that’s a whole other basket of scampi....I was more of a Beano/ Dandy man meself, although I often did wonder what on earth were those "Four Marys" up to now!....
