A poster for an Anti Nuclear armaments march and concert. I believe Hawkwind never actually turned up to this, leaving The Damned to headline...

“Hawkwind and The Thompsom Twins didn't show as a certain Phil Jones did not send them their expenses”

“come to think of it he didn't send Ronnie Lane his expenses either and he didn't show”

“It is absolute bollocks about expenses not being sent. I wasn't allowed access to the checkbook. it was MANUS
(MCR Area NUS) who funded it along with the NW TUC.
The organising committee and the City Council decided there were too many acts on the bill. I was asked to reduce the list by an hour. For some reason, we decided on Ronnie Laine. As and when I do my autobiography, it'll go down as the worst thing I did in my whole career, phoning him up. He was so disappointed.
Hawkwind pulled out 2 days before the show. They were stuck In Rockfield studios, well behind with recording, and had to be finished by Sunday night. Dave Brock himself made the call, to me. It was a bitter blow, especially since we had stood Ronnie down. I have no recall of The Thompson Twins being involved at any stage. Cheers Phil Jones”
