Carmel
Manchester Polytechnic Mandela Building
10th March 1984

From City Life, March ’84, “Pop” column. Carmel was quite big national news round this time; at the vanguard of the new found and renewed interest in all things jazz and she definitely did Manchester proud. She was no Sarah Vaughan, or Anita O’day for that matter but what she lacked in technique she made up for in energy and performance and , as I recall, original material. As mentioned before, the video for “More More More” was filmed in and around a pub on Great Western St. I think.
