From City Life 136, Nov. ’89.
Oh frond memories/ happy days.....This place was like a veritable....well.....”Oasis” in that run down part of town behind the Arndale /Tib St. area which I think is now part of the Northern Quarter..It was great for a 10 minute holiday on a cold winter’s day as it was heated and huge and felt a little like walking through a tropical rain forest; a haven of tranquillity, and could possibly have inspired the odd song/ poem / band name to those who were that way inclined....
Other stuff in this issue:-big article on Simply Red.
An article of travelling in Cuba; a place I've always dreamed of going, particularly before Fidel pops his clogs and the next day a McDonalds springing up on every other corner.
a full page article on keeping exotic pets (hence why this add was in this issue).
An add for “The Enterprise and Self Employment Exhibition ‘89” held at Birley Community Centre ; run by the “agency for economic development, and Moss Side and Hulme Task Force Initiative”and opened by Stuart Hall of all people (!). No doubt a worthy cause.
At the flicks:- Shirley Valentine/ Sex, Lies And Videotape./ Dead Poets’ Society etc.
