Yvonne McCalla Interview
Interviewer: Martin De Mello
With kind permission of Commonword

Here Yvonne McCalla talks the blues and shebeens she would visit after a typical night out, either at the Russell or in town. She talks about how blues were an expression of Caribbean culture. She remembers specific shebeens, such as one at the bottom of John Nash Crescent that would charge a pound on entry.
