This was a very exciting day for me - my first ever proper gig, in fact. I was fourteen. My sister and I begged our Dad to let us go. He said no initially, but we threatened to kill ourselves and he soon acquiesced. When we got to Alton Towers, the crowd seemed intimidating. PIL were supporting. We had no idea who John Lydon was, or why he kept rolling condoms up and down his radio mike. There were loads of punks going mad at the front. They were all doing a weird hand sign (the universal gesture for wanking). When we got home we asked Mum what the weird hand sign meant, she said she didn't know. The gig was pretty brill (we thought) but we got a bit lost on the way out. It was dark, bit scary. My sister pulled a bloke, but he ran off when he realised she was twelve. Dad was waiting for us in the car; he was almost dead with boredom.
