Wanta is the Inaugural and Creative Director of Milpirri, a Warlpiri elder and bilingual/bicultural translator. He has held an Australia Research Council Discovery Indigenous Award with the School of Music, Australian National University, given keynote lectures at numerous National and International Conferences and written solo and coauthored papers on Warlpiri culture and heritage. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the National Recording Project for Indigenous Performance in Australia, and Senior Cultural Advisor (Lajamanu) for Warlpiri Youth Development Aboriginal Corporation. His passion is the reinvigoration of Warlpiri culture by finding traditional principles that are relevant to today’s community life. He has worked as a Community Liaison Officer and 2 Teachers Assistant at the Lajamanu Community Education Centre and in 2007, was awarded the 'National Curriculum Award' for his work at Lajamanu.
