Ten Years of Manchester District Music Archive
2013 is the tenth anniversary of Manchester District Music Archive.
During this decade our little online community has swelled to nearly 2,500 strong, and our members have uploaded over 8,600 artefacts and stories relating to Greater Manchester music. We have produced sell-out events, curated numerous exhibitions and been a vital resource for authors, journalists, students, film makers and music fans around the world. We have now been approached by The Lowry to curate an exhibition celebrating this 10-year journey. The exhibition will run from September 2013 for five months, and we are in the process of developing ideas for it. That is where you come in!Our ethos has always been about the fans and their stories: that's what keeps the archive alive and makes it such a great community. So, in keeping with that, we want your input. Our archive is driven by your contributions, so we are asking you how best can we represent this in a physical space? Here's some food for thought:Personal defining momentsMusical genresVenuesTimelinePeople/personalitiesAt this stage the brief is completely open and we welcome any suggestions. Please email us with your thoughts, ideas and how you'd like to be involved. We would be very keen on having some of our members directly involved with curating the exhibition. So for now, over to you... Please Contact Us. W
e look forward to your ideas.
