“I visited Stamford Hall many times from 1964 onwards. Used to go on Sat nights mainly. It was called YOR Club (Young Ones' Rock Club) and was run by a teacher, Mr Bell, from Wellington Rd Boys' School. I used to play for their football team too. Remember seeing The Who there in 1965. I also remember The Hollies being pretty much a resident band there. Used to get a pass out to The Malt Shovels pub nearby. Happy days.”

“Also used to see Shane Fenton and the Fentones regularly. They were often on the radio on Saturday Club with Brian Mathew. Shane Fenton later morphed into Alvin Stardust.

Freddie and the Dreamers were another regular band at the Stamford Hall.
