Cindy & The Saffrons
1983

Back cover of Terry by Cindy & the Saffrons. Here's what it says...

Cindy & the Saffrons were formed last summer by Cindy (real name Joanne Whalley), Lindsay Neil and Sally Stairs.

Joanne had sung with various groups in her local area of South Manchester from the age of 15, although her musical career became overshadowed by her acting - with recent successful roles including Ingrid in Granada's TV series of "A Kind of Loving".

The formation of the group led almost immediately to a recording contract and a first single, "Past, Present and Future" (STL 9).

This second single is a remake of the track written and released by Twinkle which reached No. 4 in November 1964.

“I didn't know Joanne was a singer, although her looks are sort of made for TV and film. I thought she was great in A Kind of Loving. Not sure what happened after she moved to the States but definitely a girl with star quality.”
