“Shangaan dancers, they dance, they can go on for almost an hour with that speed, without getting tired. When you see them dance you feel like they have got no bones” - Nozinja (Shangaan Electro)

Shangaan Electro is the high-speed dance phenomenon from South Africa that is rising from streets into clubs, homes and venues all around the globe.

For the first time this summer the stars of the genre will lead a series of dance workshops across the UK in which dancers of all ages and abilitities can learn the secrets of this unique and infectious style. Set up on the floor like a Shangaan dance party, this workshop will be free with a limited capacity participatory events so early booking is recommended by registering for a ticket above. Open to all ages and abilities. Under 16′s should be accompanied by an adult. Participants are advised to wear suitable clothing and bring water. Workshop lasts 60 mins approx

Participants will also have a chance to try out their moves in public at an array of Shangaan Electro live performance, later that evening, featuring producer/vocalist and leader of the dance Nozinja, the clown-masked Tshetsha Boys, plus vocalists Tiyiselani and Nkata Mawewe.

Dazzling footwork and rubber-limbed body shakes combine with hyper-accelerated beats, addictive vocals and some crazy, colourful costumes to give the Shangaan style wide-ranging summer appeal. Come join the Shangaan carnival.
