Happy Mondays, New Order
19th April 1985

A noteable gig for a few reasons:

It was the only time they played, as either Joy Division or New Order, in this one of their two hometowns (Steve, Gillian and Ian's in this instance).

It was filmed by Ikon (does this still exist? maybe one day...?)

Bernard decided to snap the headstock off his 335 guitar (during Elegia strangely). Quote: "That was to show, you should always have a spare".

It featured a very early live appearance from Happy Mondays.

Probably the only time a noteable band ever played at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

01. As It Is When It Was
02. Love Vigilantes
03. Blue Monday
04. Sooner Than You Think
05. This Time Of Night
06. Elegia
07. Denial
08. Sunrise
09. Face Up
10. The Perfect Kiss

A tape of the gig exists in the Rob Gretton Archive, though it sounds pretty rough, most probably due to the live mix needed to make the band sound ok in this sort of venue.

“"Alright sheepshaggers, let's go" - what an introduction from Hooky! The audience tape isn't bad at all, you can almost hear the panic around the taper when it all went off!”
