once, after college we jumped in my friends mini and drove to london to see them in covent garden, off the cuff. them were the days, oh to be young and free blah blah etc...”

“McCarthy were my favourites from the C86 scene. The Boardwalk was so initimate me & my now wife went and chatted to Malcom Eden (the singer/guitarist) before one such gig as he was just sat on the floor waiting for the support to come on. We used to write to him regularly and he even posted us a tape of the 'I am a Wallet' LP months before it hit the shops. They were a great band and Malcolm Eden was a wonderful lyricist. We saw them several times at the Boardwalk and also at the Hacienda. Also loved their labelmates, The Wolfhounds as well.”
