Spak Blit was more of an event than a band per se Comprised of 5 members all playing sax in a "free" way...The Brainchild of Howard Walmsley,it took place at the Millstone and I think it was as support to Crispy Ambulance....The line up was,Howard, Landmark, Stalwart,Sbilts and a guy called Bill who was a mate of Howards we only saw that night and never since....There was rudimentary coreography involving Sax dismantling and mouthpiece switching....a tape exists somewhere of this......it was awesome, a maelstrom of wailing Saxes, Some people clapped, others fled to downstairs to escape..Tee Hee, Stalwart wore a wig....

“SPAK BLIT ! amazing is there a tape?
was New York in Paris on at the same show (two robots)
could have been another night at the Millstone..which was at one point quite the happening venue(well 1980).
I remember a near spak blit happening at the begining of a gig @BOTW involving most of these guys and Steve who was the landlord..he was always game to fetch his alto out;.”
“Im sure I would remember if there were robots on the bill that night..the tape was lost forever though I think Howard recorded it on a cassette recorder he had since we were kids (monophonic). I dont know why I remember but something that sticks in my mind was Alan Hempsalls T shirt..it was green and had something about the Aircrash that happened in Tenerife about that time emblazoned on the front...I can feel a recreation of the Spak Blit event coming on (if Howard hasn't copyrighted it) I have a really cheap Chinese made Alto itching to be blown”
“Chinese itch eh? I'm sure you can get tablets for that. 'H' in choreography by the way - pedantic Dr.A!”
