Manchester Arena (MEN)
28th January 2006

The original Manchester vs Cancer gig at the M.E.N Arena.

Superb gig, although given the bill, it was always going to be.

Star turns included 808 State's live rendition of ‘Pacific State’, Doves repertoire of hits, Mr Scruff playing Ian Dury's “Reasons to be Cheerful pt.3”, Johnny Marr's rendition of ‘There is a light...’ and, of course, New Order's set of Joy Division's finest.

The latter upset the drunken dolt next to me who shouted “play some fucking New Order, New Order, fucking New Order! Come on City...”, on what seemed to be a continuous loop.
