“I went to this! It was the first time I ever met one of my heroes at the age of 20! It wasn’t in the Dancehouse Theatre, the Dancehouse was unavailable at the time, so it happened in the lower floor at Waterstones on Deansgate itself, the shop must’ve closed for it. Ray wasn’t very amused that it wasn’t in the Dancehouse. He did some of his well known songs on acoustic guitar, like Waterloo Sunset. There was a Question and Answer session. And he was kind of annoyed by this one guy, who asked him what was the meaning behind Waterloo Sunset, and asked him about Blur. He found the questions a bit inane….
I was soooooo happy to meet Ray, he was my idol, I was obsessed with the 60s and indie at the time, I remember what I was wearing, that I had Sun-In bleached hair, a black mohair jumper on, over a Acid Jazz t-shirt, I told Ray I loved The Kinks and that my favourite Kinks song was Shangri-La..”
