The Bridgewater Hall

I wasn’t sure what to expect seeing Yes last night. I saw them half a dozen times in the 1970s and the early 80s and then lost touch. I know they're not cool but for me, the Anderson; Howe; Bruford/White; Wakeman; Squire line up was the classic one and the run of albums that went ‘The Yes Album’; ‘Fragile’; ‘Close To The Edge’; ‘Tales From Topographic Oceans’ and ‘Relayer’ was their golden period and would always be hard to beat. So…..the two and a half hour set they did at the Bridgewater Hall surpassed all of my expectations when it was almost exclusively from that time:
Yours Is No Disgrace
I’ve Seen All Good People
Sweet Dreams
South Side Of The Sky
Onward
Mood For A Day
Wondrous Stories
Parallels
And You And I

The Revealing Science of God – Dance Of The Dawn (Side 1 of Tales From Topographic Oceans)
Leaves of Green (the final bit of ‘The Ancient’ - side 3 of Tales From Topographic Oceans)
Ritual – Nous Sommes Du Soleil (Side 4 of Tales From Topographic Oceans)

Roundabout
Starship Trooper

It was a glorious gig and although Steve Howe and Alan White were the only members from my time (and AW only played the final 30 minutes), it didn’t matter. The band were tight, played very well and had a great light show. I had a great seat and even managed to smuggle in my DSLR camera to take these shots. The mean Guardian review (www.theguardian.com/music/2018/mar/18...) only gave it three stars. I’ll give it foive!
