Flyer
The Nigeria Centre, Platt Lane
4th September 2005

After the Basement closed, this was moved to The Nigeria Centre (Appleby House, Platt Lane). I think it was in a large basement room, which was fantastic, although there was probably a reason no other gigs have been booked there since that I'm unaware of.

Apparently I watched:
Jean Genet - shouty party band with nipple tape from Leeds
Lake Me - heavy guitar and drums 2-piece from Newcastle, sweet pop songs but almost as if they had some Lungfish DNA in there
Unpleasants - one of the ex-Canvas folk playing keyboards
Vol D'nuit - Rosie from Newcastle, whispered folky epics on amplified acoustic guitar

“Yes, I think the band day at least (which coming to think of it could have been the Saturday, meaning it was moved from Trof) was a big success given the venue change, and I was only there watching the P.A. (and playing rounders) but was inspired enough to review it under the title "Straight Eye For Queer DIY" (or possibly I actually never wrote a review but just went on at various Kaffequeeria people about how good that title was).”
