Band On The Wall

This is the original design, by Michael Trainer, of the Band on the Wall carpet, part of the artwork in the building it also served a practical function of directing customers (subliminally at least) around the new venue layout. It was woven by Brintons and at the time was the most technically advanced carpet they'd made, it was designed on a 1:1 scale with each pixel a tuft of wool. It won several awards and many acolades in the carpet and flooring world. The carpet replaced a well known green covering with blue 'Dizzie Gillespie' logos woven in, it makes a significant difference to the acoustics, though some find it strange to have a carpet in a nightclub.
