I believe in the 70s it was a rollerdisco.(there was a bit of a craze for roller disco s ) I saw JOY DIVISION here also .”

“There's a photo of this place in Alan Keegan's "Irish Manchester" book from the mid-80s calling it the The Osborne Dance Hall. Must have had an Irish connection at some time? In the photo there is a sign over the door saying "Rumours" ??”

“Steve Wlliams (New Beat Specialist) , Jay Wearden & The Spinmasters ruled the roost as resident Djs in the halycon days of the Thunderdome. At the time the least pretentious and most energetic crowd of the proto acid house years. The venue was a shit hole a long dark box with flooded toilets and steam rising from body heat on the dancefloor, people used to dance in lines all facing the stage. The oldham heads were all on the back wall. Fiercely working class crowd. . The soundsystem made up for the venues failings .”
