'Flesh December 23rd 19992 Haçienda, Manchester' Coloured pencils on paper©Laura Noble.
This is a drawing I did of my FLESH ticket & some other entry tickets. I went to Flesh many times, I remember that night like it was yesterday. Got home 7am Christmas Eve morning had a shower then got ready for work, fell asleep leaning on an eye makeup brush at my desk in my bedroom. I somehow made it to work for 8am (greengrocers on Christmas Eve, you can imagine) got through a very long heavy day, (my boss told me never come to work in that state again) then off to the pub!

Flesh was fantastic (all the many nights spent at the Haç were) we were greeted once we were inside by 2 drag queens in tutus dishing out a little bag each with two ferrero rocher in it and a condom. Perfect! There were masseuses as well on the balcony. Mustn't forget to mention the twins with the straws in their hair outside on the door as well we're always a welcome sight. Those halcyon days with full of love and laughter some hardcore dancing a lot of fun. A wonderful place to be queer, camp or anything you wanted to be, a safe space of celebration. I miss it so much.

I'd love to hear from anyone who went, a lot was going on, we lost so many friends, bit the love burned bright.

This drawing also includes other tickets (42nd St maybe) & a heart tag from something I bought in Afflecks Palace. Maybe it was one of my many BB (Big Banana) t-shirts....
