Alt.country legend Jay Farrar pretty much invented the genre. We put him on Night n Day in 2000 and sold it out. Farrar loved Indian food so we took him to Rusholme after teh gig. He was a very quiet man, the only thing I remember him saying all night was "Hmmm I'm a real rice man". A year later we put him on at Band on the Wall and about 20 people came.
