Photograph of Salford punk band 'The Change' from 1978. From left to right - Dave Turner - Bass, Gary (Foz) Foley - Vocals, Paul Wainwright - Lead Guitar, and kneeling is Chris Turner - drums. The band had a residency at the 'Wishing Well' club in Swinton, regurlarly supported fellow Salford band 'Fast Cars' and played the occasional gig in Manchester and Blackpool. Chris Turner was eventually replaced on drums by Baz Richards. Baz, Dave and Paul later went on to form 'Communal Drop'.

“Hi Mat...the band did not relaease any records. They did however record a demo tape in Manchester. The name of the studio where it was recorded eludes me?”

“I saw The Change recently at The Phoenix Club and found they can still do it; slightly older faces, but very recognisable songs from years back.
I heard that Chris Turner was in the audience but was disappointed that I never bumped into him. Has he packed in the drums for good or is he still hitting the skins with someone else ?”

“Paul looks like he liked his dinners in the 70's......he looks a lot leaner without those Vesta curries and tinned Goblin meat puddings inside him, these days! Come to think of it: Foz looks like he liked a dip butty or two 'n all. I thought Salford was a ghetto? You's look well fed to me! ;-)”

“Wow! This takes me back! I saw the change many times and I recall Snoopys Youth club in Swinton with a net separating audience from band! The Change certainly inspired me to think about having a go at playing. I have since had the pleasure of sharing a stage with Paul, a great fella with an awesome rock 'n' Roll ticket stub collection.”
