The Stone Roses
3rd March 1989

An unforgettable Friday night, we took the train to Warrington & found Legends under one of the stands at Warrington RLFC. The place was quite busy & there was a huge buzz - first up a band playing one of their very, very early shows - The Charlatans, can't recall if this was with or without Tim Burgess. The Stone Roses came on very late, we hadn't a hope of getting home by public transport but who cared. They were brilliant - we were in the front of the stage, occasionally ducking to avoid being clobbered by Mani's bass - just sheer bliss. Our ears rang for days. We hitch-hiked home - standing on the slip road to the motorway - I had forgotten or lost my keys - had to kick in the front door of our student house - who cared! One of the nights of my life..
