THE LOBE were a mid to late 1990's psychedelic garage punk band formed in Hulme, Manchester.
The members of THE LOBE :
Norman Knight - music & guitar. Adam Webbow - lyrics & vocals. Pete Awad - music & bass. Brian Benson - music & drums.
THE LOBE held residences at Manchester's 'Night and Day' gig venue and played at many Manchester gig venues including 'The Hacienda'.
'City Life' magazine wrote "THE LOBE are gathering a sizeable following. Their song 'Twister' is nothing short of casual brilliance".
'Melody Maker' called THE LOBE "a glorious rock 'n' roll racket".
John Bramwell of the band 'I Am Kloot' said "The only song I would consider covering would be 'Twister' by THE LOBE".

On bbc6music on 29th March 2026, THE LOBE were described by Peter Jobson from 'I Am Kloot' as "One of the greatest bands I have ever seen. They were Mark E. Smith's favourite band and Mark E. Smith (of The Fall) and his crew would come to watch them."
Peter Jobson called THE LOBE "Manchester Royalty" and called the song 'Twister' by THE LOBE "my favourite song in the world, ever".
Guy Garvey of the band 'Elbow' described the track as "Amazing. Wonderful to think of Mark E. Smith coming out for anyone else's music".
