Clara Butt
1912

Clara Butt, born 1 February 1872, was an English dramatic contralto, and was mainly a recital and concert singer, only appearing in 2 operatic productions in her career.

She studied at the Royal College of Music through a scholarship and was sponsored by Queen Victoria to study in Paris for 3 months.

She also arranged and performed in concert to raise money for war charities during the First World War, many of which were held at Royal Albert Hall (where she performed 110 times!).
