Willem Gezink, a highly commended timpani soloist with the Hallé for 27 years, lived in Chatham Road, Stretford, Manchester. He was born and raised in Amsterdam before moving to Manchester, becoming a member of The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain. The Guardian described him as "probably the leading player of drums in [the UK] for many years."
