Artefact
Another charming sketch, this time from Webster Millar, a celebrated tenor between c. 1911 and his passing in 1924. Here, he has drawn himself as Faust, a role he reprised many times throughout his career, most notably with the Sir Thomas Beecham Opera Company.
Perhaps this can speak to his popularity as a "favourite tenor" of the era: despite being Mancunian, Millar was featured in a concert entitled 'The Great Irish Night,' consisting mainly of acclaimed Irish musicians!
On record, he peformed with the Hallé 26 times.
