Harry Mortimer

Harry Mortimer, born 10 April 1902, was an English cornet player and conductor, who learnt how to play the cornet at the age of 8, and was named after his grandfather (who was also a brass band player).

Harry was principal trumpet at the Halle from 1930 to 1941, and in 1942 worked as Brass and Military Band supervisor for the BBC until he retired, and was awarded the OBE in 1950.
