Letter
The Hallé
1919

Self-reflective letter to Edward Speyer, Dec 1919. A letter written to Edward Speyer thanking him for the gift of Beethoven scores, which has been described as one of the best Elgar every wrote, being incredibly self-reflective and feeling nostalgic for the feeling he had when he was younger when he was first encountering the great masters of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. He doubts even admittance to heaven wouldn’t be as euphoric and epiphanic as those early days.
