Gerontius letter. Letter to Mr. Parson thanking him for the offer of accommodation during the forthcoming festival but explaining that the composer and Mrs. Elgar have previously accepted Mr. Dixon’s invitation to stay. This letter was bound into Aubrey Ward’s copy of the first edition vocal score of The Dream of Gerontius. Ward was a member of the chorus that performed in the disappointing première of the work.
