Fast Cars, Martin O'neill
Bowdon Vale Youth Club
1979

The gigs at Bowdon were promoted by Bob Jefferson from Streets Ahead Records in Altrincham. It was Streets Ahead that released our single "The kids just wanna dance" later that year.
Tim Llewellyn was our Manager at the time and the man behind the gigs and the deal.

“This clip is from the Withington Reporter used to promote our gig at the Withington Festival (which was mentioned on our Granada TV appearance along with the gig at the Factory on the poster I posted).

This photo was also taken by Martin O'Neill along with about another 20 on the same night.”

“Saw and recorded some great gigs at this club - The Fall, Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, Scritti Politti.

Mr & Mrs Jefferson did the kids of Atrincham a great service by putting on such great bands and selling us some great records from their shop - Streets Ahead - the cornerstone of my vinyl collection came from that unassuming shop - the latest Manchester and Jamaican music.”
