Club Academy (The Cellar)
18th November 2008

A rather early Christmas gig by Low at Club Academy, in the basement of the Students' Union building on Oxford Road. Club Academy is a great, fairly new little venue...nice views, good bar, very clean. My only complaint might be that it seems very light. When Alan Sparhawk came on he said, 'I'd like to dedicate this gig to John Peel' (cheers from the crowd), 'Michelle Obama' (more cheers), 'and Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.' (Stony silence.) Unfortunately this gig was attended by one of Manchester's 'characters': a tall, long-haired, wacky-hatted dicksplash with jack boots, who insisted on ruining the atmospere with his toe-curlingly unfunny heckles. You know who are! Stay at home! Manchester is sick of you!

“hi abigail...one thing worth a metion here is the sound quality...i saw asian dub foundation here and i thought the sound was excelent, as was the band. this made a welcome change because all too often i go to gigs and the sound is awfull which is seriously anoying....as for the heckler....makes you wonder why they paid to get in in the first place....it's not big and it's not clever.”
