Mr Smiths was the original venue [?] sometime after is ceased there it ran for about 4 weeks at a beer kellar off Deansgate until the chief constable threatened the owners with taking away their license.... I saw Van der Graaf Generator and Barclay James Harvest and was it the Groundhogs??? The original venue featured a revolving stage which I remember Mott the Hoople loving. After the Circus moved out Mr Smiths Other Scene at Brazenose St, I was a regular there and was lucky to see Thin Lizzy fresh off the boat and possibly the loudest band I ever saw, that being Glen Cornick's Wild Turkey still the only band ever to drive me back from the front row by the sheer volume
