Backstage Pass
Born Idle
15th December 2001

A punk all dayer in Middleton Civic Centre. Polluted Pusy was Ali & Dee (Redhouse) & they put on a great line-up of bands. Born Idle, followed by 3CR, Lowlife, The Swell Bellies, MDM, and a couple more (sorry, memory lapse!) before headliners Red Alert. It all over ran, and Red Alert weren't allowed to go on & do their set because of the venue's strict curfew times. They were very pissed off. Not very well attended as I seem to remember, but a huge stage to run around on, and no bass amp when we played, just DI'd into the pa. Rock 'n' Roll!

“You forget to mention The Varukers, Al.........they were very good on the night as I remember, despite that cock of a bass player from Chaos UK who they had at the time (Taffy - not to be confused with Taffy of Disorder fame, who's a very nice bloke!).
'Cast Iron' Smith (Red Alert) wasn't having it with the curfew malarkey.......he thought I was from the council and started kicking off with me! I put him straight, telling him it had nowt to do with me and to go and have a word with the promoters - Dermy and Ali (a true gentleman) - , then he was alright about it when they got paid!

STADIUM ROCK!!!”
