The French, Yargo

Here we have an obscure 1981 release by The French. There is an Manchester phone number on the rear so I'm presuming they were Manchester based.

I've had this record in my collection for maybe 10-12 years, its an early cover version of Kraftwerk's 'The Model' - maybe Joy Division would have attempted it like this? Its a pretty good version which no doubt would interest collectors if it came up for sale. I've never seen another copy in years of searching.

The line up is listed as:

Vocal: William Redfern
Guitars: Graham Lees
Keyboards: Pat Allen
Bass: Ian Ward
Drums: Phil Kirby

Produced and engineered by Frogsy

“Just passing by again to post an mp3 of the superb version of "The Model" for anyone interested to have a listen to, really needs to be heard. Copy and paste this if it doesn't come out as a link:

I will be back with a scan of the second single "The River Flows East" soon for the archive (courtesy of Bill!). Great sleeve too.

“THAAAAAAAANK YOU!! In the early eighties i taped some John Peel Shows on BFBS in Germany. This Version of THE MODEL is still one of my favourite ones - but the memorex tape from 1981 is still gone. (Wonder why:)) I never knew who was the artist and i always tried to find out who the hell was responsible for it. Thanks to the net and diskogs NOW i've got an mp3 of it. I'm in Heaven. Honestly. Thanks from Germany, Tom”
