Went to see The Beloved, The Flatmates & Phil Wilson that month.
The Phil Wilson (ex-June Brides frontman) gig was very quiet in terms of numbers and he shocked the few of us who turned up by doing a Country & Western flavoured set! Very odd indeed.
Perhaps word had gotten out beforehand...

“Judging by the fact that it's the most expensive ticket, I'd assume that the 'All About Eve' were the 'well-known' band (fronted by Julianne Reagan) rather than the local band of the same name. I did hear some tale about the 'local' AAE being booked to play the BBC's Oxford Road Show then 'on the night' not being allowed to perform due to them not being Musicians Union members.”

“Think I was at a couple of these -certainly the Proclaimers which was a truly great gig - such energy and those spooky harmonies. The full Housemartins turned up at the height of their fame and we were chatting to them at the bar. Come to think of it, I've posted my signed ticket stub up on here before now. I had my brand new uber-cool (for about a fortnight) MA1 jacket on, covered in USA and USSR badges on either sleeve and my Def Jam t-shirt which Norman/Fatboy commented on and we talked about Run DMC.”
