Mothmen

City Fun 11.Write up for Hamsters gig (one of their songs went something like "Saturday night at the Chinese Chip Shop....),Armed Force;an apology to The Hoax for saying they were a fascist band when they had played at R.A.R. benefits and had a black bassist (respect due Mr.Mardy),an article about gays being barred from The Cavalcade in Didsbury;Promo for The Distractions....never did get what all the fuss was about.A review of The Mothmen single....remember seeing them at The Ardri in Hulme. They were supposed to be supporting Prince Fari but as the notice on the door said "Prince Fari will not be playing tonight due to Mental instability"!Very true story!Anyway it was Prince Hammer instead who was apparently living at The Twelve Tribes Of Israel headquarters on Upper Chorlton Road at the time. The Mothmen were good;kind of psychedelic dub and ended up on the first On-U Sound release I think.Ronnie, the bass player, who'd also played with The Paper Dolls I think),went on to play with The Lonesome and Penniless Cowboys, who could off be seen busking on Market St., along with the likes off Inner Sense Percussion etc....
